I just ask that you keep it $10US or less, which isn't terrible because there are plenty of awesome books already out in a paperback or ebook format.

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

Blog Tour (Guest Post & Giveaway): January Black by Wendy S. Russo

1 comment:

Tour Schedule

Sixteen-year-old genius Matty Ducayn has never fit in on The Hill, an ordered place seriously lacking a sense of humor. After his school’s headmaster expels him for a small act of mischief, Matty’s future looks grim until King Hadrian comes to his rescue with a challenge: answer a question for a master’s diploma.

More than a second chance, this means freedom. Masters can choose where they work, a rarity among Regents, and the question is simple.

What was January Black?

It’s a ship. Everyone knows that. Hadrian rejects that answer, though, and Matty becomes compelled by curiosity and pride to solve the puzzle. When his search for an answer turns up long-buried state secrets, Matty’s journey becomes a collision course with a deadly royal decree. He's been set up to fail, which forces him to choose. Run for his life with the challenge lost...or call the king’s bluff.

Interview with January Black Cover Artist, Taria Reed
Wendy S. Russo

I have been asked how my book cover came about, and well, I don't rightly know. I filled out a cover form. Something happened. And then on New Years Eve, Steph Murray emailed me The Cover.

And wow! I'm still lightheaded.

Anyhow, to fill in the "something happened," I asked my cover artist, Taria Reed, a few questions, which she graciously answered.

Wendy: Can you walk me through the process of a cover creation, from receiving the form to delivery?

Cover Reveal: Crossroads by Jonathan Lister

No comments:

Title: Crossroads (A Demos City Novel)
Author:
Jonathan Lister
Genre: Thriller/Suspense, Werewolf
Age Group: Adult
Publisher: J. Taylor Publishing
Release Date: November 4, 2013

Werewolf. Bar bouncer. Dad. Standard traits for any self-respecting, reformed criminal, living under the radar in Demos City. For Leon Gray, normal is what he wants—for himself and his not-yet-changed teenage daughter.

Playing bodyguard to crusading reporter David Hastings would totally ruin Leon’s peace, especially since Hastings has hired killers on his trail, pros who know how he takes his espresso in the morning, and where Leon lives.

The payoff, though, would fill up Shauna’s empty college fund, and in a battle between opportunity and ordinary, money wins. He just has to keep Hastings alive long enough to cash the check.

If only he didn’t have to save his daughter, too.

As a budding wolf, she’s piqued the interest of a local pack Alpha—one Leon knows will steal Shauna right out from under him the first chance he gets.

Leon isn’t about to give up on his daughter or Hastings, and will fight for both longer than it took Demos City to see werewolves as equals to humans.

He can only hope it doesn’t take a thousand years.

Review: Prophecy Girl by Cecily White

2 comments:

Title: Prophecy Girl
Author: Cecily White
Publisher:
Entangled Teen
Release Date: April 2, 2013

Amelie Bennett. . . . Ending the world, one prophecy at a time.

I was born to slay Crossworld demons.

Big black flappy ones, little green squirmy ones. Unfortunately, the only thing getting slain these days is my social life. With my high school under attack, combat classes intensifying, and Academy instructors dropping right and left, I can barely get my homework done, let alone score a bondmate before prom.

Then he shows up.

Jackson Smith-Hailey. Unspeakably hot, hopelessly unattainable, and dangerous in all the right ways. Sure, he’s my trainer. And okay, maybe he hates me. Doesn’t mean I’ll ignore the wicked Guardian chemistry between us. It’s crazy! Every time I’m with him, my powers explode. Awesome, right?

Wrong.

Now my teachers think I’m the murderous Graymason destined to bring down our whole race of angelbloods. Everyone in New Orleans is hunting me. The people I trusted want me dead. Jack and I have five days to solve the murders, prevent a vampire uprising, and thwart the pesky prophecy foretelling his death by my hand. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

Getting it done without falling in love. . . that might take a miracle.

My Review

Prophecy Girl has all of the makings of a book that I'd love - initially. Cecily White has a delightful sense of humor that saturates the novel. It is a paranormal story set in New Orleans that nods to other supernatural works. Amelie Bennett, the protagonist, is snarky, stubborn, and just has something special about her that I cannot put my finger on, but I know that I would like to see it in more heroines. However, the issues that I had with White's debut clouded my enjoyment.

Title: Faceless (Denazen #2.5)
Author:
Jus Accardo
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age Group:
Young Adult
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Expected Release Date: March 18, 2013

My name is Brandt Cross, and I died. Again…

I'm living in the body of a Six named Douglass Cain, a certifiable scumbag whose ability is on Zendean Industries—AKA Denazen's—most wanted list. There’s some serious bad going down, and Ginger, the leader of the Underground, sent me undercover to obtain information because people are dying.

My cousin, Dez, is dying…

Denazen thought they’d found a cure for the Supremacy decline, but they were wrong. That’s the bad news. The good news? Franklin Wentz.

Wentz, the owner of a genetic research company, is brilliant and just a little bit crazy. He’s unwittingly created a formula that may cure the sick Supremacy kids, and everyone wants it—including Devin, the super hot Resident.

Get the formula. Save the day. Don’t fall for the hot spy. Piece of cake.

Excerpt

“Damn it, Frank,” Nader cursed. He flicked a piece of something—it looked like a chunk of the ceiling—from Wentz’s shoulder. “I warned you to get out of this office. The ground floor isn’t safe.”

Book Blast (Giveaway): Hades & the Helm of Darkness by Joan Holub & Suzanne Williams

1 comment:

Hades and the Helm of Darkness (Heroes in Training Book #3)

The Heroes in Training are entering the Underworld—if Hades can conquer his canine fears, that is.

The Underworld usually isn’t really meant to be a fun place—but tell that to Hades! He loves the dark and the stinky smell of sulfur. However, there is one thing that Hades is not a fan of: dogs. And when Zeus and his fellow Olympians encounter Cerberus—a snarling, three-headed dog—Hades must conquer his fears and tame the hound so everyone can continue into the Underworld and deposit their Titan prisoner, Oceanus, back where he belongs!

But with magical water that causes forgetfulness, hot beds of lava, and another epic battle with two more Titans standing in their way, will Zeus and his heroes make it out of the Underworld with everyone intact?

2 comments:

Title: Tremble (Denazen #3)
Author:
Jus Accardo
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age Group:
Young Adult
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Expected Release Date: May 7, 2013

Dez Cross has problems. She’s almost eighteen and on the verge of losing her mind thanks to the drug the Denazen corporation used to enhance her abilities. People close to her have turned their backs on the underground and are now fighting for the wrong side. And then there’s Kale... Things couldn’t get any worse.

Until, of course, they do. Denazen is about to start a new trial—this one called Domination—and it works. But that means out with the old and in with the new. The order has been given to terminate all remnants of the second trial—including Dez. The good news is that there’s a survivor from the original trial. A woman whose blood may hold the cure for the second generation of Supremacy kids' defects. But the underground Sixes aren’t the only ones who know about her.

Dez's father is willing to throw away everything he has to keep Dez from getting the cure—including the one thing that might tear her apart from the inside out.

Excerpt

“I told them you wouldn’t come alone. Yet here you are,” Kale’s dark voice said from the doorway. “You’re an odd one.” “You don’t realize it, but coming from you, that’s kinda funny,” I said, swallowing hard and turning to face him. The light from the hall lit the entire right side of his face, leaving the left cloaked in darkness. Two sides of the same dangerous coin. I wanted to back away but resisted, meeting his gaze straight on. My Kale was in there somewhere—and he could sense weakness. “Did you kill her?”

“She’s dead.”

Blog Hops

One of my favorite things about blogging, and partially what made me realize that I could do it myself was the blog hops. Admittedly, the ones I participate in the most are giveaway hops because those are what I did the most before starting my own book blog. Kathy at I Am A Reader, Not A Writer is a hop rockstar and has contributed so much to the book blogging world. I don't even think I'd have come as far as I have if not for her. I don't know Kathy very well, but I admire her completely.

I've discovered other hop organizers since Kathy - namely O'Dell at Book Twirps and Dani at Refracted Light Reviews, whose New Release Giveaway Hop I participate in every month. These folks really have given me more of an opportunity to share my love of reading and books with a larger audience, and I am so grateful.

If you're a book blogger and have never participated in one of these hops, I highly recommend it. You can scroll down my right sidebar to see which upcoming hops will fit your blog and interests. You won't regret it.

Tour Schedule

Mary Hart Perry’s acclaimed series of romantic Victorian thrillers continues with Seducing the Princess, inspired by the life of Queen Victoria’s youngest daughter Beatrice. Painfully shy and lonely, convinced she is unattractive and unloved, the dutiful Princess Beatrice finally accepts that she will never marry and vows to devote herself to the queen in Victoria's waning years. In fact, her mother has secretly discouraged suitors for Beatrice’s hand. But Henry isn't the only man interested in being welcomed into Beatrice's bed. The timid princess has become the target of a cruel plot hatched by her nephew, the madman destined to become the last Emperor of Germany. Wilhelm II sends a ruthless agent, a charming Scot, to seduce the naive princess and spy on the queen. How can the sheltered princess hope to fend off a man capable of murder, and perhaps worse, to get what he wants? But Beatrice is not without her own allies--her older sister Louise and Louise's American soldier-of-fortune and lover, Stephen Byrne. Will Beatrice discover which of the two men pursuing her she can trust, before it's too late? Drama, romance and peril chase the royal family from Buckingham Palace to a storm besieged castle on the Isle of Wight.

I've missed out on celebrating quite a few milestones for Bibliophilia, Please with everyone, so I'm going to make the most of the A to Z Challenge by inviting those of you who are not regular visitors to join in the festivities.

So, would you like to know what we're celebrating?

My blogoversary was at the end of December. I've been a book blogger for a whole year! Yes, I know I'm not a very good one, but I love what I do, especially interacting with my readers and other bloggers. I really should spend a lot more time with you guys.

I hit a thousand followers a week or month ago. This was a milestone that I never thought that I would see! I don't interact as much as I should with people, so it is a bit of a shock that someone would choose to subscribe to my blog. But a thousand someones? *faints* I wish I could scoop every follower up into an enormous hug right now.

This milestone is the one that blew my mind - one hundred thousand page views. 100,000 PAGE VIEWS! What. The. Hell. My mind is blown. I hit that two weeks ago, and I've had nearly eight thousand more since that. It's crazy.

In order to show my appreciation to you guys, as well as celebrate how terrible I'm doing with the A to Z Challenge, I am hosting a giveaway. It will be international, and there will be easy entries for those who don't want to follow. However, there will be quite a few different entries for those of you lovely folks who DO follow the blog. This is my way of saying thank you.
