#TBTBSanta - Kayla's Unveiling of Her Goodies

2 comments:

For the past three or so years, I've participated in the Broke & Bookish Secret Santa, and it's always a lot of fun. I sent out the goodies to my recipient (she's not been home to receive her package yet, so I'm not spoiling) a two weeks or so ago, and I received my package from my Secret Santa earlier this week at the most perfect time. (My family and I get a little nutso around the holidays, so distractions are a good thing.)

My Goodies

Chris from Rocklin, California (I haven't been able to figure out who this person is yet, unfortunately) sent me a fantastic package. I came home from work to find this:

Do you guys get the same surge of pleasure to get a cardboard box on your doorstep with your name on it? And here's what was inside:

Title: Gates of Thread and Stone (Gates of Thread and Stone #1)
Author:
Lori M. Lee
Price: $1.99

In the Labyrinth, we had a saying: keep silent, keep still, keep safe.

In a city of walls and secrets, where only one man is supposed to possess magic, seventeen-year-old Kai struggles to keep hidden her own secret—she can manipulate the threads of time. When Kai was eight, she was found by Reev on the riverbank, and her “brother” has taken care of her ever since. Kai doesn’t know where her ability comes from—or where she came from. All that matters is that she and Reev stay together, and maybe one day move out of the freight container they call home, away from the metal walls of the Labyrinth. Kai’s only friend is Avan, the shopkeeper’s son with the scandalous reputation that both frightens and intrigues her.

Then Reev disappears. When keeping silent and safe means losing him forever, Kai vows to do whatever it takes to find him. She will leave the only home she’s ever known and risk getting caught up in a revolution centuries in the making. But to save Reev, Kai must unravel the threads of her past and face shocking truths about her brother, her friendship with Avan, and her unique power.

This is a Kindle daily deal, so the reduced price is only good for today, November 19, 2014. This book has an average of 3.72 stars out of 5 stars on Goodreads. I haven't read it yet, but I did buy it when it was released. This doesn't seem to be available as an e-book on any of other major e-book retailers, but it is part of Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program.

Please remember to check prices before buying. These prices are subject to change without notice.

Amber

I'm not normally a fan of time travel, but this sounds really good. Maybe the magic time travel will better than technology based time travel. Please, please, please don't have a love triangle with the best friend and the "brother." I'm willing to take the chance, especially since it's only $3.99 on Amazon and part of the Kindle Lending Library.

Kayla

I'm totally with Amber this week on Gates of Thread and Stone, and I wanted to put my two cents worth in. I discovered Lori M. Lee back when I did a shitton of giveaway hops. I don't know her personally or think that I've ever even spoken to her, but I have been keeping an eye out for when she would publish because I just knew it would happen at some point. Just reading her posts was always fun, so I'm very interested in seeing how her novel is.

What are you waiting on this week?
