Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Books

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Books

1. Samwise Gamgee ("Sam")
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

To me, Sam was the true hero of The Lord of the Rings. Frodo would never have gotten anywhere without Sam.

2. Hermione Granger
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

I could have filled this list with only Harry Potter characters because they're all so interesting. I'm limiting myself to only two. Hermione is my favorite character out of all of Harry Potter, and I would love to see her get her own book.

3. Severus Snape
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

In my opinion, Snape is the most complicated character in Harry Potter (I won't say why because that's a spoiler). I want to see more of his backstory and his interactions with Dumbledore.

4. Derek
Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews

Poor (now broody), still hot, Derek. I loved reading Andrea's book, and would love to see inside Derek's head and see him get a HEA.

5. Pam
Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris

Pam is my favorite character from the books (Lafayette is my favorite from the T.V. show). She's so deliciously snarky and seemingly callous. I would love to see Bon Temps and Louisiana through her eyes.

6. Nïx
Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

Crazy, all-seeing, funny Nïx, who I hope gets a HEA.

7. Cookie
Charley Davidson by Darynda Jones

Cookie pretty much holds Charley's life together, because I'm sure that Charley's head would fall off if not attached. I think that Cookie might be heading toward a HEA in the series, but I'd like to see it in her book anyway.

8. Grandma Mazur
Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich

Grandma Mazur is such a hoot! She's so hysterical, and I love all of her scenes. I bet she was such a hellraiser when she was younger. I would love to see a prequel type series with all of her antics when she was Stephanie's age.

9. Al
The Hollows by Kim Harrison

I just love Al; he's so mischievous! I want to see Al get up to all kinds of antics and I want to see him get a different sort of HEA.

10. Kenji
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I loved that we got to see more than just the comic relief side of Kenji in the later books, but I would still love to see Kenji have a book of his own.

  1. Oh my, I don't know if the world could handle a book with Grandma Mazur as the MC!lol She is so awesome though, everyone I know who reads the books just love her. (my friend even reads her scenes out loud to her husband.lol)
I feel like I'm one of the few people who hates Snape but I do.lol His backstory would make an interesting read though. Great list! Here's my TT: http://betweenyabookends.blogspot.com/2014/11/top-five-characters-i-wish-would-get.html

  2. Very true re: Samwise Gamgee. I think it was a more recent re-read that I came to really appreciate how much Sam did in getting Frodo to Mount Doom. His resilience is amazing.

  3. I think Snape's backstory would be amazing! Even Harry Potter's parents and their whole "gang" during Voldemort's first reign. I love Hermione, but I wonder if we gravitate toward her so much because of Emma Watson? Or do we love Emma Watson because of Hermione?

    1. Yes! Almost all of the characters in the Harry Potter could get their own books and be interesting. I would love to see Harry's parents and the gang in a prequel.

I was late to the Harry Potter party, so I read all of the books before watching any of the movies. I loved Hermione in the books, so I know it's not Emma Watson. But, my love of Emma Watson may definitely come from my love of Hermione.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I didn't even think of it, but Hermione could have a really awesome book on her own (especially if we disregard the Ron-romance). I'd love to read more about Sam, but at the same time, he went through so much in LotR, I'd hate to put him through any more danger. :(

    1. That's a good point! I would want more of an adventure, rather than a saving-the-world quest. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I haven't read several of these but what I have I definitely agree. I also agree with a prior comment about the whole crew including Harry's parents, Snape and several more!!
