Top Ten Tuesday: Goals for 2015

My Top Ten Bookish Goals for 2015

1. Read more books than I read in 2014

I kind of failed miserably at this in 2014. In 2013, I read 303 books, but in 2014 I have only read 273 so far. In 2015, I will try for only one more than in 2014.

2. Read more books out of my normal comfort zones

Normally, I'm a fantasy reader with a little bit of horror and science fiction thrown in. This year I have found some series I loved in the other genres, and I really need to branch out more.

3. Read more classics/award winners

I set a goal to read one classic, modern classic or award winning book a month this year. Although they weren't the original books, I tried to read, and I had a few classics that I put down, I did manage to read 12 classics or awards winners this year. I'll try for one a month again next year and hope I make it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Classics

Top Ten Classics

I Have Read:

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

My introduction to witty Austen books and my all time favorite book, let alone classic.

2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

I've always heard that people either like Jane Eyre OR Wuthering Heights, and I've come to believe it. I loved Jane Eyre, but it took me the better part of a year and many failed attempts to read Wuthering Heights. I mean, I tried print, audio AND ebook version and FINALLY got through it. Anyone else read both and love one and hate the other?

Top Ten Books That I Can't Believe I Have Never Read

This week is a rewind where we pick from past topics. I'm choosing books I have never read because I thought it would be fun, and it might make me actually read then sooner rather than later.

1. 1984 by George Orwell

This book is one of the reasons that I started to read classics last year. I just have never gotten around to it. I'm kind of intimidated. I even own it on audiobook and physical copy. It is definitely on my to-do list this year. If I could just actually start to read it...

2. Little Women (Little Women #1)
by Louisa May Alcott
I have no excuses, but I do plan on reading it this year.

Top Ten Books on My Winter TBR

1. Fables and Reflections (The Sandman Volume 6) by Neil Gaiman

I will read anything written by Neil Gaiman (seriously, even his speeches make me tear up sometimes!), and Sandman is said to be one of the top graphic novels ever published. So far, I agree whole-heartedly. It is dark and gritty and pure amazing.

2. A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire #5) by George R.R. Martin

I have been putting off reading this one as book 6 hasn’t been released and there is no release date in sight! (No, I am not whining that George R. R. Martin takes forever to release books. As Neil Gaiman so eloquently put it – George R. R. Martin is not my bitch :-). I am however scared that I will forget everything that happens in A Dance with Dragons when book 6 is finally released. But with the show not on until next year, I need some Tyrion Lannister in my life, so I’m thinking this will be read in pretty short order.
