Kayla Will Be MIA...

I know I don't write a lot of personal posts, but I don't want you guys to think that I've taken a hiatus or anything. My family and I have been staying with my mother-in-law off and on for the past few weeks to make it easier for Mister do his side jobs and get his deer stand ready. Anywho, Mister went home a few days ago to get some school uniforms for our daughter and discovered a bit of a mess. Not only had our air gone out, but a water line going to the back of our refrigerator had burst.

Our house was flooded.

My daughter's room was fine, but our kitchen, living room, and master bedroom was a swamp.

So yeah, we have a horrible mess to clean up. Because it was in the 90s last week while the air was out, some mold decided to move in. Everything is being taken to be cleaned, but we're not sure how much will be saved. There's also a good chance that the damage will be more than the house is worth.

And then there was this kind of problem:

That's what many of my books look like. I have signed ones, first editions, and some that I'm still in denial about.

Now that you have an idea of what's going on with me, you know where I'll be. Amber will still be doing Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday. I do have some posts scheduled, and I'll try to respond to comments and visit your blogs as much as I can. If you need me, I will be checking my email.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope your books (and other belongings!) are mostly salvageable and you don't lose anything irreplaceable! I can only imagine how heart-breaking it must be to face.

    1. Thank you, Amalia. It hasn't really sank in yet, but I just keep telling myself how much worse it could have been.

    1. Thank you, and it literally did stink. There was much gagging outside after trips in there. :-P

  4. I want to thank everyone again for your kindness. I got word today that the cost of repair will be more than the worth of the house, so we'll only be replacing items and finding a new place to live. I appreciate all the emails and tweets. <3
