Blog Tour (Interview & Giveaway): V is for Virgin by Kelly Oram

Tour Schedule

When Val Jensen gets dumped for her decision to stay a virgin until marriage, the nasty breakup goes viral on YouTube, making her the latest internet sensation.

After days of ridicule from her peers, Val starts a school-wide campaign to rally support for her cause. She meant to make a statement, but she never dreamed the entire nation would get caught up in the controversy.

As if becoming nationally recognized as “Virgin Val” isn’t enough, Val’s already hectic life starts to spin wildly out of control when bad boy Kyle Hamilton, lead singer for the hit rock band Tralse, decides to take her abstinence as a personal challenge.

How can a girl stay true to herself when this year’s Sexiest Man Alive is doing everything in his power to win her over?

Interview with Kelly Oram
Author of V is for Virgin

1. What inspired you to write V is for Virgin?

My little brother told me to write a book where he was a “hot famous rock star who got all the chicks.” I laughed at him, but decided to run with it. (Thank you Kyle.)

2. What was the hardest thing about writing your novel?

Writing about a subject like abstinence without sounding preachy or completely one sided. I wanted this book to be a fun romance more than anything, and not just all about the message.

3. Why made you decide to write YA?

There has never been any question. YA is by far my favorite genre to read and write. My maturity sort of peaked at 16, so I guess it makes sense. I’ve tried to write adult before but I just don’t have the attention span for it.

4. What is a day of writing like for you?

Wake up. Change diapers. Feed kids breakfast. Turn on Yo Gabba Gabba. Write for about ten minutes. Get up to stop my 2-year-old from doing something naughty. Write about ten more minutes. Get up to stop a fight. Write about two more minutes. Get up to stop another fight. Write about fifteen minutes. Get fed up and take kids to grocery store or their cousins' house. Come home and change more diapers. Feed kids lunch. Put kids down for naps! Write for sometimes an hour and a half uninterrupted if I’m lucky!!!

5. Which book or author has had the greatest influence on you?

If I’ve picked up any writing habits from anyone it would be Meg Cabot or Kelly Armstrong. I adore them both!

6. What are you currently reading?

I’m in the middle of Poison Princess by Kresley Cole and I am LOVING it! You should all go read it.

7. If your readers only took one thing away from V is for Virgin, what would you want it to be?

I guess that you make your choices for yourself and not to please other people. Be true to yourself.
V is for Virgin is available as an ebook for the Kindle and Nook

  1. I am absolutely looking forward to reading V Is For Virgin! It sounds totally cool and like my type of book. :)
The Author Interview is great! Kelly's schedule is funny, but I'm so glad she gets to write or else we wouldn't get to read some lovely books. :D I guess at some point, all readers would love to thank Meg Cabot for writing some of the best books we've read.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
